About the Area
South Africa's vineyards are mostly situated in the Western Cape near the coast. This is the southernmost region of the African continent, and has a Mediterranean-type climate and diverse soils perfectly suited to quality grape production.
Vintage Conditions
January in the Western Cape heralds the beginning of summer and, as the temperatures increase, early ripening grape varieties are ready for picking. The bulk of the harvest takes place in February and March and the sugar/acid ratio of the grapes is checked daily so that each variety is harvested at optimum ripeness.
Winemaking
Red grape varietals were harvested at optimal ripeness. After crushing, the juice was left on the grape skins for a short period of time to extract colour from the grape skins. The juice was then removed from the skins and inoculated to ferment dry. After blending the wine was sweetened with grape concentrate and bottled.
Wine Description
An easy-drinking sweet rosé with hints of strawberry, floral aromas and spice.
